Tour 2 - Castles Galore - 7 days

Day 1 - Arrive Troon and pick up Motorhome. Familiarise yourself with a short drive to the campsite at Craigie Gardens stopping of at the supermarket to pick up supplies.
Day 2 - Visit Burns Cottage in Alloway as you travel the Burns Heritage Trail. After a relaxed lunch visit the superb gardens and castle at Culzean before returning to the campsite at Craigie.
Day 3 - short drive along the coast to Dundonald to visit Dundonald Castle - a royal residence for 150 years in the 14th and 15th century. A relaxing drive along the west coast through the picturesque towns and villages of Fairlie, Seamills and Largs with a view across the sea to the beautiful Isle of Arran with it’s soaring mountains before crossing the River Clyde at Erskine and on to Dumbarton followed by time to explore the historic site at Dumbarton Rock - home of Clan Campbell.
Evening drive to a campsite at Blair Drummond.
Day 4 - Visit the castle and gardens at Blair Drummond before a short drive into Stirling to spend time exploring Stirling Castle and the nearby Wallace Monument.
Evening campsite at The Woods, Alloa a bustling little town at the foot of the Ochil hills.
Day 5 - A short drive and then a short walk up Dollar Glen brings you to Castle Campbell. Then follow the course of the River Forth downstream from Stirling, past the Kincardine bridge to North Queensferry, site of the Forth rail and road bridges. Once over the river a short drive brings you to Edinburgh campsite - a perfect base for exploring Scotland’s capital city.
Day 6 - Leave the motorhome at the campsite and head into Edinburgh to explore. Visit the castle, walk up the Royal Mile, tour Holyrood Palace (official Scottish residency of Her majesty the Queen) or enjoy the shopping before returning to the motorhome.
Day 7 - Leisurely drive through Central Scotland and Ayrshire back to Troon.
Total driving distance would be in the region of 250 - 300 miles depending on the exact route. This would mean only driving a maximum of 60 miles on any one day - most days being considerable shorter.
